Skyrim: 6 Most Useful Spells For Every Play Style

You’ll benefit from learning these Skyrim spells whether you play as a warrior, a mage, a ranger, or some combination of the three.
Skyrim is a familiar fantasy world with elves, humans, dragons, giants, and lots of other creatures. As you might expect, magic is popular in this dangerous land, and you can use it to your advantage (both in and out of battle).
Spells can make the difference between life and death for anyone, no matter who they are or what tools or armor they like to use. We’ve put together a list of the best spells for every kind of play style that you should always have at your hands.
Clairvoyance

The Clairvoyance spell is easy to use and shows you how to reach your present goal. This isn’t like Captain Jack Sparrow’s compass; it doesn’t suddenly know what your heart wants most. It actually just takes you to the goal of the active quest (or the nearest goal if you have more than one open quest).
It might seem like we don’t need this spell since there are quest marks, but quest markers don’t always work. You’ll be glad you have the Clairvoyance spell if the place you want to go is on a different floor, in a dangerous maze, or otherwise hard to find.
Lesser Ward

Healing is the most basic spell in Skyrim, so we didn’t think to mention it here. The Lesser Ward, on the other hand, is a simple Restoration spell. Wards are like shields in that they make your armor rating higher and block damage. But they can only stop damage from spells. They can’t stop damage from weapons.
The Lesser Ward is the lowest-level type of Ward. It can be used for about 3 seconds by someone with just the base amount of Stamina. When you can see the hit coming, it’s great for enemies with slow, two-handed weapons.
This spell’s Apprentice-level improvement is called “Steadfast Ward.” It’s not the best choice for every play style, though, because it costs 58 Magicka per second. But if you’ve put at least a little energy into magic, it’s a big step up.
Conjure Familiar

You already have this skill if you play as a Breton. You can use Conjure Familiar to call up a ghostly dog to fight with you for 60 seconds. This spell costs 107 Magicka, which is only one level up from your starting Magicka. It can be useful in a lot of different conditions.
No matter how you play, you will run into a situation where a distraction would be good. Maybe you send your familiar into fight long enough for you to sneak by a group of bandits. If you wanted to shoot a few arrows from a distance, a familiar would stop the enemy from following you as you backed up. You might even just want a short break and some help to let your Stamina recover. No matter why you need help, this dog is here!
Healing Hands

As we’ve already said, everyone starts with a simple spell that lets them heal themselves. But sometimes you worry about things other than yourself!
NPCs always get into trouble on their own. Some of them are considered “essential” by the game and can’t be killed, either permanently or temporarily. Do you want to fight with your follower? Do you want an NPC who is part of a quest to keep moving? If so, you can use Healing Hands to heal your subject for 10 points per second, but it will cost you 25 Magicka per second. An NPC could be healed for 40 points by a spellcaster with just the basic amount of magicka.
Magelight

This isn’t a spell for fighting. It’s a useful magic. It lets you make a light that you can stick to any surface you want. Up to 60 seconds will pass while the light is on. It’s an Apprentice-level Change spell, but you can still use it if you haven’t raised your Magicka level.
Candlelight is the Alteration skill’s Novice-level version if you don’t want to level up or if you want a light that follows you around instead of one that sticks to a surface.
lights are usually easy to find in Skyrim, but there’s nothing worse than going into a deep, dark cave and realizing you don’t have any lights with you. Mightyena saves the day! Also, it’s nice that you don’t have to hold the light in one hand if you want to equip weapons or other magic.
If you cast Magelight on an enemy or NPC, it will follow them around as if they had cast Candlelight.
Soul Trap

In Skyrim, magic things have to be powered by real souls. Try not to dwell on that too much. Magi use special gems that can hold souls until they are put on the thing in question to use them. When you get to the end of the game in Skyrim, you’ll probably be using at least one or two magical weapons, so you’ll need these Soul Gems.
So, the Soul Trap spell comes into play. This Apprentice-level Conjuration spell costs 100 Magicka, which is the same amount you started Snow Rider 3D game with, and it lets you capture a soul in an empty gem if something close dies within 60 seconds.
